Dr. Tom C. Thomas joined the department in December 2010 after a stint of fifteen years of uninterrupted service as Lecturer in English in Institute of Human Resources Development, an autonomous higher educational institution under Government of Kerala. He did his PhD in Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady on the topic, “Aesthetics of Redemptive Discourses: A Structuralist Reading of Kahlil Gibran”. He has done a UGC sponsored minor project on the topic, “Poetics of Discursive Stasis: A Structuralist Analysis of Select Print Media on Current Affairs”.

He has been handling courses which include “Writings of the Renaissance”, “Cultural Studies”, “Theories of Knowledge” for MA English along with core as well as common course papers for UG classes. Dr. Thomas has designed an elective course (“Comparative Indian Literature”) for the MA English programme of the college. He has been the staff editor of the college magazine since 2014. He is also the coordinator of Writers’ Forum, the literary club of the college. He has coordinated a national seminar on the topic “Body as Text:Poetics, Politics and Polemics of Incorporation”. Currently he is editing a text book (Scripting the Nation) for U G first semester English common course.

Dr. Thomas’ areas of specialization include Literary Theory, Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature. He is also a creative writer.
