Dr Thomas, as part of his PhD research, investigated the oeuvere of Kahlil Gibran,the Lebanese American  poet, to discover the founts of  the  redemptive energy of his works. It was a comprehensive structuralist analysis of all the available works of Gibran  who has had profound academic as well as popular appeal. It has been hailed by all the examiners as an original contribution to Gibran studies.

Dr. Thomas’ UGC sponsored minor project (“Poetics of Discursive Stasis: A Structuralist Analysis of Select Print Media on Current Affairs”) is again a significant piece of cultural study. It is a structuralist investigation of the factors contributing to the discursive stasis in contemporary news journalism.
